Title: #1 Fan
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Sam gets help when he's nervous.
Warnings: description of the start of anxiety attack, but it's not too heavy
Sam peaked out from the curtain and cringed at the amount of people there. He didn’t know why his teacher wanted him to read his story aloud during their Spring assembly. He had to perform it two times, once to the school in the afternoon and again to his family later on that night. Sam didn’t think his story was that good, but his teacher wouldn’t stop asking about it and he couldn’t change her mind. Sam walked back from the curtain and looked down at the papers in his hand.
What if I mess up? What if they think the story is weird? Why did I decide to do this? Sam’s hands started to shake as the room felt hotter. He wouldn’t be able to do this. It would blow up in his face. It would…
His train of thoughts slowed down when he saw Ed in the crowd. Ed waved to him before he gave him the thumbs up sign. Sam waved back and walked back behind the curtain. He couldn’t remember the last time he had a classmate cheer for him. Sam grinned as he took a seat in the nearest chair by the curtains.
It felt nice.
“Sam?”
Sam looked up to his teacher, Mrs. Bell, who gave him a smile.
“You’re up next. Are you ready?”
Sam felt his nerves start to build up again, but they slowed down when he thought about Ed. He took a small breath and nodded.
“I am.”
