Title: Silver Lining
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Adam battles with the dreaded Fire Dictionary, but things finally work out in his favor. It follows this.
Adam ran around the office throwing different books to the side. He was still tackling the project from hell the new Fire Demon Dictionary. He finished with verbs and was ready to start on adjectives. However, he couldn’t find the book with his notes in the margins. Adam twisted his pendant racking his brain on the last place of the book.
Now if I was a huge book where would I be? Adam thought stepping back. He looked up at the bookcase groaning when he saw the book on one of the higher shelves. Adam sighed all his sky demons workers were out and Antonio was out with Orion and Ava. It wouldn’t feel right to call him. Adam looked around for the ladder, growling in frustration when he couldn’t find it.
Screw it I’ll just climb it. I used to climb trees it’s the same concept. Adam thought walking towards the bookcase. He started climbing, keeping note of nearby books. Adam knew he should spend more time looking for the ladder, but the dictionary project put quite a strain on his patience.
Adam smiled triumphantly when he made it. He pulled the book out holding it steady with one hand. Adam flipped it to a random page sighing in relief when he saw his notes. He tucked the book under his arm ready to jump down when Tabitha opened the door. She looked up at Adam in surprise. “I could have found a sky demon if you needed something or even a wind demon to call it down.”
“Didn’t need to, I got it.” Adam said jumping down. He landed in front of Tabitha holding the book up to Tabitha. “I found it I’m so happy I did. So what’s up? Did I miss something?”
“Yes, Danny called about the dictionary you asked for.” Tabitha said.
“Oh yeah Orson’s Fire Demon Dictionary vol. 81 let me guess they don’t have it.” Adam said.
“No, they do Danny called to confirm a time for you to pick it up.” Tabitha said smiling.
Adam stopped blinking in surprise. “Wait…you mean it’s there? They have a book I actually need.”
Tabitha nodded, “Yes I believed Danny helped. Danny heard how the library gave you a hard time. He was furious to say the least. He said that if you need anything just ask.”
Adam smiled, “This is why I love Danny so much. I have to thank him and you when I finally finish this. I have so many people to thank. I’m so happy.” He tossed the book to the side bringing Tabitha in for a hug. “I just don’t know what to say. I can’t believe this.”
Tabitha smiled hugging Adam back. “Luck is finally on our side.”
“Yes it is it’s about damn time.” Adam said.
Tabitha laughed It’s a good thing I decided to wear my pendant today. She tucked the Amethyst pendant away in her shirt. I’m glad Amethyst still works in good luck spells.
